Newlyweds Prince William and Kate Middleton, did not dissapoint the estimated one million people gathered outside Buckingham Palace on Friday April 29, to witness the royal couple's first kiss.
After making their appearance on the balcony, Kate and William shared two short kisses as throngs of onlookers cheered wildly. The attention quickly turned to 3-year-old Grace Van Cutsem, one flower girl who was captured on camera looking overwhlemed by the mass hysteria.
The Goddaughter of William covered her ears with her hands, frowning as the crowd noise grew even louder when the royal newlyweds launched into their first kiss. Grace was one of the youngest bridesmaids at the wedding.
The "best kiss" from this royal fairytale wedding was witnessed by over 2.9 million people through simultaneous streams (live and on-demand) across the internet.
Yahoo reported that the royal wedding event broke records in terms of traffic and video consumption. Requests per second at the online media company surpassed previous records, with 40,000 requests per second compared to 33,000 per second during the Japan Earthquake.
As the radiating couple waved to the crowd, the Royal Air Force commemorated the occasion with an epic fly-past in the sky overhead. After spending fewer than 10 minutes on the Buckingham Palace balcony with family members, Kate and William stepped back inside the palace holding hands as the crowd errupted in cheers once more. Kate Middleton looked back over her shoulder to acknowledge the fond farewell.
