This epic kiss is being called the "Vancouver riot kiss" and "Love among the ruins" by millions of people enraptured by one incredible viral act of love sweeping the internet.
When Vancouver fans started rioting in the streets after their hockey team, the Vancouver Canucks, lost in game seven of the Stanley Cup Finals on Wednesday, June 15, one unknown couple was determined to make love, not war in the middle of the mayhem.
Online debates are underway over weather the amorous act was staged or truly a random moment. The photo was captured by freelance journalist, Richard Lam, who was in the streets covering the chaos Wednesday night.
“We were in front of the bay where looting and burning was taking place, it was just mayhem,” Richard Lam told MSMBC. "I looked back and thought someone was injured and I shot that. I framed it up, juxtaposed with the policemen. I was about 20 or 30 yards away."
Without realizing it, Lam had captured a sensational moment that instantly erupted into a full blown viral internet event on Thursday morning. As chaos was pouring into the Vancouver streets, a different kind of unbridled passion spilled, literally, onto the asphalt.
Who are these daring lovers street kissing in the middle of a riot? That's exactly what everyone wants to know. We're calling their deliberate act of love the best kiss ever.
